Effective Date: March 30, 2026
1. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the Bureau of Trooph. Your privacy is a high priority for the Official BS Inspector. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use Trooph.org (the "Site"). We don't sell your data to corporate abusers; we use it to build a more truthful and unified America.
2. DATA WE COLLECT
To provide our "Trooph" ratings and personalized news aggregation, we collect the following:
Account Information: Email, name, and profile details provided when you sign up via our authentication partner, Clerk.
Activity Data: Your upvotes, "BS Ratings," and "Unity" scores to help calibrate our truth-seeking algorithms.
Transaction Data: If you purchase a subscription or "Official BS Inspector" apparel, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers on our servers.
Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) signals, collected via our Next.js framework and hosting providers.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
We use your information to:
Verify Your Identity: Ensuring that "truth" ratings are coming from real citizens, not bots or coordinated manipulation campaigns.
Personalize Your Feed: Showing you news that challenges your biases and promotes understanding.
Improve the Bureau: Analyzing which "ridiculous" stories are trending to better direct our investigative resources.
4. THIRD-PARTY PARTNERS (THE SUB-PROCESSORS)
We only partner with industry leaders who respect your privacy as much as we do:
Clerk: Handles our secure login and user management.
Supabase: Provides our secure, encrypted database storage.
Stripe: Manages all financial transactions with bank-grade security.
News APIs: We aggregate headlines from third parties but do not share your personal identity with these news providers.
5. COOKIES AND TRACKING
We use "Essential Cookies" to keep you logged in and "Functional Cookies" to remember your site preferences (like your favorite news sources). We honor Do Not Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals automatically.
6. YOUR RIGHTS (THE INSPECTOR'S PROMISE)
Regardless of where you live, Trooph.org grants you the following rights:
The Right to Know: You can request a "Portable Copy" of every data point we have on you.
The Right to Deletion: You can "Scrub the Record" and delete your account at any time.
The Right to Correct: If we have the wrong info on you, you can fix it.
7. DATA SECURITY
All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). We use modern, server-side architecture to minimize the data exposed to your browser, keeping the "Truth" secure.
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Trooph.org is intended for adults and young adults interested in civic discourse. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 13.
